Pedro could have become a comedian. Or a politician. Or the next José Mourinho. And he surely could be Porto’s best tourist guide. Instead he would have almost ended up as a lawyer, if he hadn't managed to get his act together at the last moment and dropped out of law school. The son of a philosopher and a psychiatrist is obviously a man of many talents. Being an enthusiastic cineaste and aficionado of New Hollywood and European art house, he enjoys nothing more than analyzing films, discussing visual language and dramaturgical ideas of great cinema.

During his studies in audiovisual communication technologies Pedro developed his craft as a cinematic storyteller and continuously enhanced his abilities. This led him to write and direct his short films “Directo – Live” (2011), “Transgressão – Transgression” (2012) and “Nocturna” (2014), which all have been selected for national and international film festivals. His excellent visual intuition became more and more evident to other filmmakers, which subsequently led to Pedro being selected as the cinematographer for fiction films, such as the short films “Balança – Balance” and “Jenga” as well as the feature film “Pecado Fatal – Fatal Sin”, the most awarded Portuguese festival film of 2014. He was also recruited as the director of photography for Luís Diogo’s “Uma vida sublime” (2016). As a director, Pedro likes to work with the camera as a perfect observer, moving through the action with a natural rhythm and long takes, which he maintains for editing and narrative style in order to reveal internal conflicts, looking for them beyond the surface of the obvious reality.

In addition to his own projects as an artist, Pedro is occasionally hired as an assistant director – for example on the documentary “Nadir Afonso: o tempo não existe” (2012) – and as camera operator for various companies and productions, for example for TV Record, the Casa da Musica Porto, FC Porto and miscellaneous events, live shows and concerts.
